I am looking for Gershbein. I have tried a variety of spellings in Russian. Girshbein, Gershbyn, Gurshbein. I am looking for Leib Gershbein born around 1905-7. He was in the military and died in 1941. I found a Leib Gershbein on Pamyat-Noroda but he was born 1913. Leib was married to Riva Malukova 1906-1993. They lived in Zhytomyr.
I am having a hard time locating documents. Does anyone have suggestions for surname variations?
Thanks

I found him in on that site, but he was going by a less Jewish name, which was extremely common. Leib was frequently substituted by Lev (same meaning as Leib - lion) or Leonid. This person was called Lev son Khaim. Born in 1904, he was wounded in battle and died in the hospital in 1943, although some other documents list him as MIA. His wife is listed in one of the documents as filing a status request for him, which has comments quoting his commander about him getting wounded in battle and being sent off to a hospital. (https://pamyat-naroda.ru/heroes/memoria ... ie8417939/ pages 20-26) This document also lists his 3 daughters: Sima - b. 1908 (? perhaps 1928), Polya - b. 1931, and Bela - b. 1935leahkushner писал(а): ↑29 дек 2021, 00:22I am looking for Leib Gershbein born around 1905-7. multiple documents from this link: https://pamyat-naroda.ru/heroes/person-hero107239531/
The following link will show all records for him, including the medal, that they were trying to pass on to him in 1945, thinking that he was still alive and attempting to locate his address. https://pamyat-naroda.ru/heroes/?adv_se ... e=Хаймович. The one on the bottom has a misspelled last name, but it matches the rest of the info, including the date when the medal document was signed.
